As I write this A is destroying (in a good way) the useless front storage/sitting area. Our plan is to gouge the wasted space to free it up, build a frame for a couch, and cut our old mattress down to make the padding for the couch. The trailer is about 9' across which will make the sitting area long enough for a guest to sleep on. We plan on integrating our dogs' crates into the design of the couch since they sleep in their crates at night and the crates take up a lot of room. Ideally, the two crates and a plastic bin containing the dogs' food bag, toys, etc, will take up the space beneath the couch while the mattress lays atop supports separating the crates and storage bins. It's a little complicated to describe in written form so I hope this makes sense to you. I'm sure it'll be better once I have pictures.
We've been working both together and separately on projects to better The Tactical Trailer. I've mentioned before I got a promotion a few weeks ago and I also started school again so I've been pretty busy. A is still working three jobs so she barely has any time to update. Last weekend I restored an old book cart that we intended to use as a planter for veggies and herbs. I stripped it down to its nuts and bolts (quite literally), sanded it down, and sprayed it with some Rustoleum. I even refinished the nuts and bolts with a chrome-finish paint so they wouldn't look so gross and rusty against the backdrop of freshly-painted metal. I reassembled it and it looks pretty good considering.
I spent a few hours this week setting up cable and Internet. Comcast is included in our rent so I just had to contact them about getting a cable box. Thanks to Mike at Comcast for activating the first cable access I've had in six years. I also got a modem/router combo that I had turned on by a girl named Tisha, also from Comcast. My grad program is online so having Internet is kind of a must here. Our Wifi username? TheTacticalTrailer. :D
Today I woke up and went outside to find A had already planted the first two tiers of vegetables which you will see more in-depth in our next blog post. I made breakfast and after eating on the patio we went out for some more supplies. We spent the rest of the day inventorying our storage units and deciding what to get rid of and what to keep. Since we have limited space we're getting rid of a lot of useless crap. After that we went back home and planted the rest of our garden-y things.
