Tomorrow (9/1) is the day we move into an RV park. For $725/month we get a 25'x15' piece of land with water, electricity, and cable to call our own. I'm nervous. I'm excited. According to A, I have way too many feelings. ;)
In preparation for The Big Move we spent the majority of Saturday trying to ready the Tactical Trailer for a long haul. A had to work in the middle of the day so we really only had the evening to work on stuff. If I haven't mentioned it before, I got a new job about two weeks ago so my schedule has been craaaazzzzyyyy. I'm hoping that once we move closer to our jobs things will stabilize.
A's big project is to get the front storage area broken down and transformed into a couch (giant toaster-robots not included). She tried unscrewing screws and finding out where the unit was connected to the wall but to no avail. It's screwed, glued, and tattooed to the front wall. It also happens to have some wiring built around it so we can either remove the outlets and cap the wires or leave part of the wall in and take down what's around it. We decided after some miscommunications that the best possible way to handle the situation was to tear the fucker down with a sledgehammer. A went to work breaking down the flimsy wood boards until the manager of the campsite we were at ('cause we decided to stay at a campsite for the final weekend of living) came and knocked on the door. A stopped her destruction and answered the door while I corralled the dogs.
Manager: "Is everything okay in there? I heard some banging."
A: "Yeah, I just needed to break something."
Manager: "I hope nobody is being beaten in there." (Wow, poor attempt at a joke.)
A: "Nope, we're all good." (She calls back to me) "Jenn, you okay?"
Me: "Yup! All good back here!"
Manager: "Oh good. Bye now."
And then she left. The best part was that I had just showered and the runny makeup on my face totally could have been mistaken for a black eye. She continued breaking down the wall and I worked on organizing my closet to its fullest capacity. Since it's a floor-to-ceiling closet and my clothes don't reach to the floor, we got some of those wire crates to line the bottom of the closets with; something like this, but cheaper. We were both pretty tired so we didn't get a whole lot done but Rome wasn't built in a day.
That was yesterday. Today after A went to work I installed a mailbox lock on the exterior panel that had previously been flapping in the wind for the last two months. It wasn't at all difficult and once again all I needed was my Leatherman. The only hangup I had was choosing the correct cam for the type of inner lock I needed; it came with two flat cams and an offset cam. Since the point of contact was a few centimeters thick I chose the offset cam and it worked perfectly. I wish it had just been a turn-lock instead of a keyed lock but Home Depot didn't have any. I don't see us needing access to this panel often so it'll be fine for now.

Now, onto the next! Once we're all settled into our new space I'll be doing more repairs and such. I'll try to keep our adventures up to date but I started grad school again last Monday and things are going to get even more hectic.
