A little while ago I noticed that the toilet was backing up. Not the traditional backing up but the solid waste wasn't disseminating evenly through the blackwater tank and would back up so as to not let things flush properly. The reason for this was that any water being put into the black tank was leaking out the external connector even though the lever was closed. For whatever reason, the lever doesn't close the vent properly and liquid is able to get out through the hose and down the sewage drain. Once I disconnected the sewage hose and capped the vent things flowed a little better.
Yesterday I opened the bathroom window because the temperature inside the trailer was already rising (we're in a little heat wave here) and was hit with the smell of sewage. Now, I figured it was the lagoon nearby because a few times a year it smells really bad and the heat probably wasn't helping. I continued getting ready for my day.
I stepped outside to go to my car and I realized there was a large puddle towards the back of the trailer that smelled a lot like sewage. Needless to say I screamed internally. I walked back and looked under the trailer to see something--a pipe or the tank itself--leaking water fairly heavily. I panicked and hurried to the utilities hookups where I fastened the sewage hose and emptied the tank the best I could. Luckily that ended the dripping. I left the hose hooked up to the sewer dump and tried to close the vent lever. I'm hoping more PipeWeld or some caulking can fix whatever the problem is but I won't go under the trailer until 1) the puddle is dry, and 2) I grow the ovaries to crawl under a leaking blackwater tank. I picked up some caulking and sealant at Home Depot last night and hope to tackle the pipe sometime this week. Since it doesn't seem like it's going to rain again soon I'm putting off the fixing of the roof until I can get the water tank usable again.
One step at a time, I guess.
